We hear a lot
of our customers say to us “We want a water feature, we love the sound of water
but we travel a lot and we don’t really want fish. What can we do?” The answer
to this question is a Vanishing Fall Water Feature. A Vanishing Fall is
a natural looking waterfall that falls into and “Vanishes” into the ground.
Here are some advantages to having a Vanishing Falls. If you Travel a lot and
are gone for weeks or months on end you can simple unplug the pump and let the
falls sit until your return. Unlike a pond that needs to be run 24/7, a
Vanishing Falls is not an ecosystem that requires constant circulation. We also
hear a lot of our customers say that they are really interested in the sound of
water but they are not interested in having all the plants and fish. A
Vanishing Falls system is super low maintenance. If you have any concerns
about maintenance than this system is the feature that will solve all of your
maintenance concerns. Also a Vanishing Falls is super safe. If you have small
children or grandchildren this system is much safer for them than a pond because
there is no standing water for them to fall into.
So how does
the Vanishing Falls system work? It’s actually quite simple. The system starts
with the underground reservoir. The reservoir size is determined by the size of
the waterfall and the amount of water needed to run the falls. The reservoir is
made out of RainTanks that contain your water by creating a void space
below the ground. The submersible pump is also housed in the reservoir in a
DuraValt pump box. From the pump, a flexible pvc pipe will carry the
water up to the SimpleFalls waterfall box. The water fills the
SimpleFalls and spills out over the rocks and cascades back down the waterfall
tiers into the reservoir and the process repeats again. Underneath your
Vanishing Falls reservoir and waterfall, your water is contained by a rubber
liner and is also protected by an underliner. You may also choose to add
a automatic fill valve to your feature so that you do not have to worry about
having to drag a water house over the feature to fill it. Also some landscape
spot lights or underwater lights are a must have for creating a night time
atmosphere and for enjoying your Vanishing Falls in the cooler evenings.
